Informational Guide to Tan Son Nhat Airport (SGN), located in Ho-Chi-Minh / Saigon - Non Official

Ho Chi Minh Airport Terminals

Ho Chi Minh City Airport stands for the largest and busiest international airport in Vietnam, being its main international gateway.

Aside of serving Ho Chi Minh City, SGN Airport also serves the south eastern part of the country.

Ho Chi Minh Airport has a couple of terminals, the Domestic Terminal 1 and International Terminal 2. Each terminal has its own building with separate sections for domestic and international services.

Present and Future

Due to the airports’ growth, the government decided two major mesures: To built another terminal in Tan Son Naht Airport. It has been decided to expand the airport with another building that will help the airport to handle up to 60-70 million passengers per year, expected to reach by 2025.

But there is another plan too: Tan Son Nhat is located inside the city, so it can’t grow a lot more. There was a plan approved in 2011 to build a new airport: Long Thanh International Airport. It is expected to be completed by 2025.

Long Thanh International Airport will be in charge to handle all the international flights, while Tan Son Nhat Airport will handle the domestic and regional ones.

Domestic Terminal 1

Aside of handling Domestic services, it is the oldest terminal in the airport and has a capacity of 15 million passengers per year.
